It doesn't mater when it comes to an earthquakes or where you live, and that you don't have a lot of earthquakes you should be able to know everything about when a earthquake comes. Yes you will be scared but don't show other people that much control yourself so they will be able to listen on what to do. Find the most safest place where ever you are it is important. Wit till its over don't try to escape or anything just stay where you are but make sure your not in a dangerous place. As long as you get calm you will be able to know what to do for you to be able to be safe.
FOR CHILDREN:
Earthquakes are scary for everyone, but especially children so they don't really understand what is going on. It is important to try to prepare children, without scaring them. A simple way to let children know what to do during the shaking is to teach them the words, drop, cover and hold. Then have them practice, dropping to the floor, getting under something for cover and holding on until the shaking stops. You can prepare a first aid kit with the children so they know what everything in it is for and where it is kept. Also have a plan on where you all will meet if you get separated. Reassure them that if they can't get to you, you will come to find them. You can also explain to the children what exactly is going on with the earth during an earthquake so they understand. While it is important to be honest and answer any questions they have, do your best to do so in a matter of fact way, and without doing anything to make the children have more fear.
